How To Choose Used Golf Club Sets For Beginners
Choosing Used Golf Club Sets For Beginners can be difficult.
If you a beginner at playing golf, you should probably not
buy a new golf club set immediately, since you may find out
that you don?t like the game that much after all.
Furthermore, you have yet to find out your real niche in the
game and your own unique playing style, which will greatly
affect the way you choose golf clubs once you are a more
seasoned player.
The good choice for a beginner is to start with used golf
clubs. The main goal is to keep the price down so that you
aren?t making a huge investment before you really know what
you are doing. Here you will find some tips to follow to
help you to hunt down your starter golf clubs.
At this point in time, you should be trying out as many golf
clubs as you possibly can. Borrow them from your friends,
rent them out from golf club rental stores, and take the
clubs down to the driving range.
Hit as many balls as it takes to decide whether you want to
stick with that particular club when you make the purchase.
If it feels at all uncomfortable or if you keep missing
shots that you would normally make, you should probably
reconsider your choice and find a different golf club that
will work better for you.
When you actually go out to buy some used golf clubs,
carefully make sure that they are similar to the ones that
you have tried in the past. If they are what you need,
you?ll notice a huge difference in their quality.
As you search around for used golf clubs to get started
with, you should bring along a friend who knows a little
more about golf clubs that you do. By enlisting the help of
an expert golfer, you can use their knowledge on top of your
own personal preferences. If you are stumped on a certain
set of golf clubs and you aren?t sure whether they are worth
the money or not, they will be able to help you make up your
mind anyways.
If you don?t know anyone who has such a high level of
expertise, you can take your questions elsewhere. Find out
the specifications of the golf clubs that you are looking
at, and discuss them with the pros at the golf shops, or
even with golfing communities on the internet. Make sure you
get some sound advice from at least a few people before you
make the purchase.
Beginners also frequently make the mistake of buying a full
set of golf clubs. A full set consists of 14 clubs, and is
usually absolutely, 100% unnecessary for someone who is just
getting started. Instead, look for something called a
half-set.
There are certain clubs in a full set that are more
difficult for a beginner to control. This includes the
driver most of all, so this is the first one to go when
narrowing down the clubs to a half set. Narrowing down your
club set to just the most necessary clubs will give you
quite a few benefits. It will make it easier to choose the
right club when you go to make your stroke, and it will mean
a lighter load to carry around all over the golf course.

Cure A Hook In Golf – Here’s How
If you are unlucky enough to be suffering from a hook in
golf you might be wondering if you will ever stop hooking
the ball. Like any other golf fault, once you start hooking,
you invariably continue until the cure is found.
Sadly, there is no quick cure for a hook in golf, as this
golf fault can be located in different parts of the setup
and swing. So, find the cause and you get rid of the golf
hook.
What Is Causing Me To Hook The Ball?
The cause could be in the setup or the swing. Let me give
you some examples. If you aim is to the right of the target,
the ball is too far towards the middle of your stance, and
the grip is too tight. All of these together, or in various
combinations contribute to a hook in golf.
What is happening is you are causing the golf ball to spin
from right to left. If you think about how this comes about,
it is because you are swinging from too far inside the line
of flight. Once you are on this swing path, the club is
taken out too far away from the target after impact, instead
of in line with it. This is what causes the spin on the
ball.
If you add to this mix a strong grip, and a closed club face
at impact, you have a hook in golf.
Show Me How To Cure A Hook In Golf.
The best way to eradicate the golfers hook is to understand
how the hook happens, and then simple to play the ball
square to the target. In practice, that means adopting a
square stance, with the feet in line with the intended
direction of the shot, and using the correct grip.
All you need do is swing the club in line with the target,
and follow through straight at the target after impact. By
making these simple adjustments to your golf swing you will
be well on the way to cure a hook in golf.

Real Golf Stores Are Passionate About The Game – Are You?
A precision sport, golf is a game in which players (called
"golfers") struggle to surmount, by following strict rules,
another or multipliers players, by using many types of
clubs. Each player, individually or as part of a team,
attempts to "sink" balls into a small hole, not much larger
than the playing ball itselt. Located on a so-called "golf
course", the challenge is to require the lowest number of
strokes from the starting point, appropriately called the
"tee". It should be mentioned here that golf is a game that
does not require a standard playing area. Rather, golf is
played on a "course", which is totally different from all
other courses. Although each course is comprised by a
bluepriint all its own, approved course have either nine or
eighteen playing holes.
By the strictest definition of the rules of golf, it is
"playing a ball with a club from the teeing ground into the
hole by a stroke or successive strokes in accordance with
the rules." Played both for recreation and in competition,
the point of the game is that it assumes the winner to be
the one requiring the minimum of strokes to progress the
entire course. This is known, simply, as stroke play, or the
lowest score of individual holes during a complete round by
an individual or team. This is also known when applied to
the entire game, by definition, as match play.
With the sudden splurge of interest in golf brought about be
tournaments being available on television, there has become
an increasing market for high-end retail establishment
specializing in golf equipment and clubs, it is very
possible to not find a genuine golf store. Normally, good
golf stores may offer the latest, and generally the very,
best equipment, clubs and accessories required for superior
players of golf. There products might fluctuate within
certain a range of balls, posters, shirts and wallpaper for
the dyed-in-the-wool players to no limit of paraphernalia
Generally, real golf stores concentrate on proper and tested
supplies and equipment for real golfers. Further, real golf
stores will have hints and tips for choosing the proper club
and excellent golf balls for better play. A store that
offers products not directly related to golf and, perhaps,
have products and services in other fields, may not be
classified a "real" golf store.
In a real golf store, you might find additional services,
including club repair and fitting. Some stores may even
provide technical swing analysis. Many more "savvy" golf
stores provide the True Temper Shaftlab(c) and Achiever
Launch Monitor(c) analysis or your swing. These highly
sophisticated devices measure all parts of your swing, all
the way from ball speed, club head speed to even carry
distance. Often, they may also include printouts of extreme
deflection, shaft loading, downswing traffic and much more.
Perhaps of interest to the passionate golfer, other "real"
golf stores may have golf classes with local pros as
teachers. Tutorials may be suggested to juniors and clinics
for the fairer sex on the sport of golfing. Collectors of
golf paraphernalia could find items of interest in a golf
store. Golf collectors will find many interesting items in a
golf store as well. The hobbyist that finds golf very
interesting might find a collector item such as golf balls
that have been used by a great and renowned golfer.
Autographed items such as programs, score cards, shirts,
etc., may be obtainable. In additions, some golf stores may
have unusual gifts for the passionate golfer. Ranging from
the exotic to the mundane, the giver could possible find
just what he or she is seeking for that special someone.
And, most importantly, "real" golf stores are usually owned
and operated by highly motivated golfers in their own right.
As a matter of course, these motivated persons decide to go
into owning and running a golf store after a lifetime of
playing golf, either privately or professionally. As the
creed of most businessmen is, "It's good to be passionate
about what you are selling." Passion of this quality may
help the golf shopper to feel satisfaction and
gratification, a feeling that has no monetary value but is
invaluable at any level. Golf Stores

Improve Your Putting For a Better Golf Score
When you travel to a local golf facility you see a high
number of people swinging expensive drivers and the latest
irons trying to perfect that perfect swing but for some
reason the practice green resembles a cemetery. If you watch
a major championship then you should know that the title is
not won or lost when using the big clubs but what happens
when the putter is pulled out of the bag. The worlds most
famous golfer Tiger Woods knows this and he starts his best
selling "How I Play Golf" with ways to improve your putting.
There is nothing sexy about putting and unless the putt is
in the twenty foot range it tends not to bring out the loud
cheers although it should. Take a look at your last golf
card and you will quickly see that most of your strokes are
not off the tee but on the green. Now imagine that the
majority of your three putts become twos and the majority of
your two putts go straight in the hole and the impact it
would have on your scorecard. The best way to drop your
score is not in a drive that goes an extra twenty yards but
on your consistency on the green. Two putt every hole on a
typical round adds up to thirty six strokes on your
scorecard and is a very good reason why you are struggling
to break eighty or possible a hundred.
Next time you head out to the driving range think about the
smallest club in the bag and make sure that it sees some
daylight in between rounds for as they like to say in the
big leagues putting is where you earn your paycheck. Improve
your putting and the rest of your game will follow plus you
will make some money off of your friends during those
friendly wagers.

Golf Instruction Tip – Practice Your Short Game First
It's Thursday night league and you are running late as
always. You rush to the course and only have a few minutes
to warm up. If your like most guys you grab your driver and
practice hitting a few tee shots thinking that's the best
thing to do to set up your first hole. Well here is a golden
golf instruction tip for you, spend 10 minutes working on
your short game and you will notice a huge difference in
your scores in the first couple of holes of the round.
Studies show that your scores are highest in the first and
last 4 holes of the round. The main reason for this is on
the first few holes you are not prepared to scramble around
the green. You show up late and don't have time to get your
mind in the best frame of mind before you hit that first tee
shot and more times than not you miss the fairway. Buy
practicing your chipping and putting before you tee off you
are in a better position to save a shot or two on the green.
Here a couple of drills that can be done in only 10 minutes:
1.Hit 3-5 pitch shots with your highest lofted club or what
ever club you feel the most confident pitching with. Pitch
over a sand bunker or something else that would give you a
feel for pitching over trouble onto the green.
2.Hit a couple of bump and run shots with your 7 or 8 iron
(again which ever one you feel more comfortable with) from
just off the green but a ways from the hole to get a sense
of distance.
3.Practice hitting 4 five foot puts and 4 three foot puts
and then hit a couple in from a foot away. This will give
you confidence on the green and give you a sense of the ball
speed. The sort ones are the one that seem to cost us
strokes.
If you watch the pros on TV you will see they use the same
practice routine every time. I know most of us don't have
the time to practice before our round like they do, but it's
important to have a pre-round routine. If you follow this
golf instruction tip before every round you will start to
see a huge improvement in the first couple of holes each
round

Your Golf Swing using Positive Distraction
Golf is a sport that is very mental and requires
coordination and rhythm. My method of teaching golf is to
concentrate on the rhythm of the swing. I call this
?Positive Distraction?. I teach my students to use a rhythm
count of 1-2-3-4, or whatever they would like to keep the
swing in a fluid motion while hitting a golf ball. All Tour
players spend hours each day to maintain a smooth rhythm
though out their swing. The rhythm count is used for the
Driver as well as the Putter and Irons. The ?Positive
Distraction? allows the golfer to concentrate on their golf
swing and not let the left side of the brain (the analytical
side) confuse their thoughts during their swing.
When teaching a beginner I will usually start with putting
shots, then chip shots and then the full swing. I will also
demonstrate and teach a
?Pre-Shot Routine? that helps with grip, ball position,
posture and distance from the ball. A full swing starts
with a putting stroke, chip shot and then full shot
positioning of the club. I also teach a ?Chin to Chin
Drill" that shows the student how the chin should touch the
top of the shoulder going back, which means to stop the
swing, and then touch the other shoulder on the down stroke
that means to look up. This keeps the golfer from pushing
themselves up on the back swing and keeping the head and
shoulders in position to strike the ball on the down stroke.
Many golfers do many different things on the back swing but
must be in the correct position on the down stroke because
of the 5 laws of physics that are involved in hitting a golf
ball. The release and a full finish are important to ensure
that the weight is transferred from the right side to the
left side to complete the fluid swing. Golfers should make
fluid swings using the ?Positive Distraction? method so that
they do not become ?result oriented? which will keep even
the world?s best golfers from being successful in the game
of golf. When a golfer thinks of a score that they need or
a pay check or trophy, they will almost always double their
scores instead of winning.
Golf is a fun and competitive sport and is one that can be
played for a full life time. I teach people to enjoy golf
and I have fun doing so.

How to Get the Right Golf Bag
Everyone who is serious about golf should have a golf bag.
Just as any good, serious football player will have their
own football or any serious carpenter will have their own
tools, any golfer no matter what skill level whom is
passionate about the sport should have their own golf bag.
One of the advantages of a golf bag is that it allows you to
focus on your game by allowing you the comfort of readily
available and organized equipment.
From beginner to pro, something to carry around your clubs
with is essential. There are many things you should be aware
of though before purchasing a bag. Be aware that there are
two types of bags in general, cart bags and carry bags.
A carry bag is used when you will do alot of walking on the
course, and you will just carry this bag along with you. In
contrast, cart bags you would use when you do less walking
an would be mainly riding in a golf cart. These cart bags
would be necessary if you ever decide to go to a golf course
which prohibits walking, there are some that do. If you are
just starting your golf game then you should probably buy a
carry bag as they are less expensive. However, as your
become more experienced and more of a professional then you
should eventually purchase a cart bag.
You may be a beginning golfer and ask why you would even
need a bag of you only have a few clubs. A golf bag is
something that shows how serious you are, and allows you
flexibility when playing the game. You will have less hassle
fumbling around with your clubs or other equipment, and be
able to just play.
You must thoroughly evaluate the bag inside and out. Assess
how comfortable it is on you while walking, before you
purchase it try it on and walk around in the store. Observe
the straps of the bag and see if they have good padding and
adjustability. Keep in mind you will spend several hours at
a time using this bag and hauling it around. You will also
want to be aware of the type and quality of the bag
materials, low quality materials will break down in only a
few months of golfing, you do not want to have to buy
another bag next year. You will find water resistant bags to
protect against rain.
Most bags will hold up to 15 clubs, so be aware of what you
currently need and allow a little room for expansion. Weight
is another major, and the most important, factor you must
consider when choosing your bag. Find a balance between
sturdiness and lightness. You do want a strong, solid bag
but do not want it to be heavy.
You will find 8 - 10 pockets in most golf bags, but you can
get more if you need the extra room. Remember that the more
room and dividers you have will increase the weight of the
bag, so choose carefully. Overall, choose a bag within your
budget that offers the most room and best materials per
pound.

What Golf Ball Is Right For Me
Maybe using the same type golf balls as the PGA golf pros
will improve your game...and maybe it won't. You need to
choose the golf ball that's right for your own game.
Choosing the wrong kind of golf ball can be a bigger
handicap to your game than starting at the 19th hole.
Choosing the right kind of golf ball can have you feeling
like a Tiger, even if you don't quite have his handicap.
Golf balls come in three styles: 2-piece, 3-piece, and high
performance. 2-piece golf balls are designed for improving
your distance, while 3-piece and high performance golf balls
can typically help with accuracy.
The 2-piece golf balls are especially good if you're just
starting out or if you've played just enough to know you
really want to give this sport a try. They're also terrific
for high handicap golfers who have been around a while. Hey,
we can't all be pros! These are the most common type on the
market and usually less expensive than 3-piece balls. Best
of all, the large rubber core provides faster speed off the
tee for those of you with a slow swing. In turn, that gives
you greater distance.
It could happen that the first time you played, everyone was
astounded at the way you slammed that little white ball with
the power of a major league batter aiming for a grand slam.
But that's doubtful. Distance is usually developed over time
as you develop your swing and find the groove. When you are
just beginning, chances are you need to improve your
accuracy more than your distance. Once you've developed your
accuracy, then is the time to choose a golf ball and clubs
that will help improve your distance.
If you haven't developed consistent accuracy ? that is,
having the ball consistently land in the same "general" area
each time ? then the 3-piece golf ball probably isn't right
for you. It's just not as forgiving of miss-hits as the
2-piece golf ball. The same goes for high performance balls.
They're pretty much designed for advanced golfers...and
their price bears this out!
One factor to always be considered is cost. Simple, standard
2-piece golf balls usually come in 18-packs and are
relatively inexpensive. The cost of golf balls may seem
small in comparison to the overall cost of pursuing the
sport but the inexperienced golfer can go through a lot of
golf balls in a very short space of time!
The key, as with most golf equipment, is to choose the right
kind of golf ball for your level of play. Consider your
swing and your game, and then choose the ball that will help
eliminate your weaknesses and build upon your strengths.
If you don't choose the right golf ball for your level of
play, your golf round might just become what Mark Twain once
called it: "...a pleasant walk, spoiled".

Women’s Golf Apparel – Becoming Popular Along With the
Golfers
One sport that was traditionally favored by men but is now
popular with women is golf. The game is gaining so much
popularity primarily because of its exposure in television.
There are many golf tournaments being broadcasted these days
since the number of channels has expanded in the advent of
cable television. In fact with new technology such as TiVo,
people are able to pre program to record such events and
other shows on television for later viewing. This has
somehow helped sports programs since they now have a newer
market who may watch recorded programs thereby making the
sport more popular.
Another thing that has helped the sport is the demographics.
People are getting older and those in the post baby boom
generation up to Generation X are finding out this sport
which they may be formerly associated as a sport for older
people. It may also be that the pressures of work and being
confined to office walls may elicit a like for the open
space and panoramic view of a golf course.
The other thing that has made golf popular to women is its
stars: Annika Sorenstam, Lorena Ochoa, Grace Park, and
Michelle Wie are just some of the women professional golfers
who are becoming household names. In fact the women's pro
tour is full of women from different countries aside from
the United States which just goes to show you how worldwide
the popularity of this sport has been.
And for this, women's golf apparel has also been becoming
more popular these days. As the top women golf professionals
have endorsement with clothing companies, they get to wear
the most update golf apparel available. This has made the
models and styles of women's golf apparel more diversified,
especially if you have compared them to men's golf apparel.
Is it a gender thing? Who knows but certainly the
manufacturers are happy that there are more women golfers
these days.
The designs of women's golf apparel are far much better also
than how it was in the late 70's. The clever use of colors
and fabric has made women's golf wear more diverse. From the
traditional, to the functional, from the professional to the
optimal, these designs have made it possible for women from
ages 12 onwards to look good in the golf course. And
sometimes, looking good is what counts for it gives the
person self-confidence and in the scheme of things, it
somehow improves their golf game as well.
Finally, some fantastic infomration on womens golf apparel,
including the latest designs, styles, and accessories. Make
sure you take the course in the finest women's golf apparel
around.

Swinging a Golf Club With Force
In order to get good at golf you have to learn to have a
good swing. It is as simple as that. Having a good swing
will be the ultimate determinant as to whether you are a
successful golfer or not. The fact of the matter is, unless
you get proper instruction on how to swing a golf club, it's
unlikely that you'll simply be able to pick up the golf club
and swing away successfully. You only have to read
interviews with professional golfers who talk about the fact
that they spent years honing their swing and even some go as
far as saying that they're still in the process of honing
their swing skills to understand the difficulty of swinging
correctly. Tiger Woods after he won several championships
altered his swing in order to hit the ball with more power
and more accuracy. This is a case in point as to why it's so
important that you regularly practice to get and maintain a
proper swing. The following is a little guide that can help
you improve your swing and show you how to swing a golf club
successfully.
- The power, speed and accuracy all come from the coiling
motion of your upper body in the initial stages of your
swing. It's important to suggest at this point that the more
you try and hit the ball with sheer force the more unlikely
you are of being able to hit the ball with any real
accuracy. Accuracy and power all come from your core muscles
best utilized by this coiling action and the success of your
transfer of weight will also be a major determinant factor.
Having a smooth and consistent swing in this upper coil of
your top half will help you hit the ball with greater length
and accuracy.
- It's important when you pick up your club ready to hit the
ball that you stand well balanced in front of the ball.
Depending on whether you're using a driver or an iron will
determine how far away in real terms you stand from the
ball.
- You need to start your backswing slowly and as you take
the club up keep your head watching the ball. As you raise
the club up, slide your arm across your chest, and in this
way, transfer the weight to your back foot. At the top of
the backswing, sustain the distribution of weight and as you
move to hit the ball, slowly move the weight toward to your
front foot. This allows you to strike the ball with its full
face and in a highly controlled manner.
- As you hit the ball, keep your eyes on the target but be
sure that you keep your head down until you've made contact
with the ball. If you're looking at the ball all the way
through you can be sure that the ball is going to go further
and harder towards its target. Many golfers don't understand
this well and simply raise their head midway through their
backswing. They have poor results accordingly.
The key to how to swing a golf club comes down to proper
instruction and practice. If you cannot afford lessons then
you're best advised to watch trained professionals or rent
out training DVDs that can show you accordingly!
