One of the problems that I see a lot on the golf course is
someone who is trying to improve their golf swing and tries
to take every bit of advice that they hear. There are many

If you are new to golf then I suggest you go take a lesson
from an instructor with a good reputation before you ever

There are a lot of golf training videos and many other
training programs out there and if you listen to all of them
you will probably never get good at golf. I'm not saying

are so many different ideas on what will make you a better
golfer that you can easily get information overload and that
can be counter-productive. Pick one golf training exercise
and stay with it.
Practice what you learn at home and at the driving range
until it becomes second nature to you. I don't mean practice
for ten minutes before you head to the links, I mean set
aside some time to practice every day. Many parts of a
program don't require you to actually hit a ball.
Practice the grip that they show you. Put the club down,
pick it up and grip it correctly. Do this over and over
because you don't ride around the golf course with a club
gripped in your hands. You need to grip it every shot,
right?
Practice your stance and any exercises the program suggests
to do it properly.

the market. Pick one and practice it again and again. If you
haven't improved by the end of a golf season then you may
want to consider something else but do yourself a favor and
give your chosen golf training material a fair chance before

The Beaufort Golf Club – Your Entry to a Killarney Golf
Vacation
Picture yourself striding down a fairway sheltered by two

Golf Swing Mechanics – Discover How to Fix Your Slice Fast

Are you a beginning golfer or an avid golfer that is sick of
slicing the golf ball? There are certain golf swing
mechanics that cause you to slice the golf ball and having

Before we get into the explanation you should know that in
order to really get good enough to stop slicing you will
need much more than just this article. You either need to
get professional instruction from a club pro or you need to
get yourself a good step-by-step plan of attack like the one
at the bottom of this article. It is worth the few minutes
of your time to check it out.
So what is causing you to slice the ball?
First, you have to understand that there are only two things
that control the direction of the golf ball and that is your
swing path and your club face angle. The path is responsible
for you pulling, pushing, or hitting the ball straight, and
the face of the club is responsible for the hook, draw,
straight shot, fade, and slice.
Now with knowing that you need to fix your face angle at
impact. If you are pull slicing, then you also have a path
issues and your path is outside in. If you are push slicing
(very ugly!), then you have an inside out swing path. Both
of these have an open face, which is causing your slice.
The Drill
Now to work on learning how not to slice we have to fix your
face angle and your path, most likely. You can do this by
setting up a shoebox about a half inch from the ball and
hitting the ball without hitting the shoebox. You may go
through a few shoe boxes before you perfect this, but it
will work.

Golf Clubs – How to Handle the Selection and Planning of
This Equipment
It is a failing of many players that during a round they
will use only one club off the tee for the 14 or so holes
that are par fours or fives. For example, they erroneously
reach for a driver when confronted with a hole of 500 yards
or 460 meters with two deep bunkers that narrow the fairway
to just 20 yards or 18 meters in width at about the distance
to which they can hit.
On a hole of 320 yards or 292 meters with a narrow sliver of
fairway at which to aim, owing to water down the left hand
side and trees on the right, they pull out the driver and so
on. It is interesting to note that the straightest drivers
of all, such as Colin Montgomery or Lee Westwood, would not
dream of using a driver in either of these instances unless
there were three holes to play and they needed three
birdies.
Even given that situation, they would probably still use
other clubs. Many golfers fall back on the argument that
they are just having a fun round and using a 3 wood on one
hole and a 3 iron on another would go against the grain.
That is fine, of course, but on the really fun rounds that
you have enjoyed you can be sure that you were playing well
and scoring well. Most golfers would answer in the
affirmative to both these questions. Yet taking a driver on
every hole helps them achieve neither, indeed, driving into
the water or into the trees can have just the opposite
effect, as your score hoes haywire and your confidence
disappears down the drain.
So if the fairway is narrow at the driving distance, do not
look on it as an irresistible temptation, but concede a
small defeat to the course and use your 3 wood in the
knowledge that you will have a much better chance of winning
a far greater victory by enjoying success on the hole. Or
use your 4 wood if you think the situation calls for it.

First 5 Commandments of Golf – How Big a Sinner Are You?
The first 5 of the 10 Commandments of Golf form part of a
Test of your Ability to play the game to your Full
Potential.
Every shot in your round presents you with a unique
challenge. How you measure up to the challenge will
ultimately reflect itself in your score for the 18 holes.
How many of the first 5 Commandments will you break next
time you play?
1. Never play a shot when angry.
Golf is a game that can drive a sane person to distraction.
It is natural to blow off a bit of steam after a bad shot
rather than maintain a Zen-like calmness. However, anger
tends to feed on itself and being mad at yourself for more
than 10 seconds is likely to poison your mind and harm your
score.
2. Play each shot as a single event.
This is the most common piece of advice to golfers at any
level. Your most important shot is always your next one. The
only possible exception is when you are basing your shot on
where you want to play from next. However, once you have
decided your lay-up target, you must still play the current
shot as a single event.
3. Pin-point a target to aim at.
If you aim at nothing, you will hit nothing. Good golfers
always pick out a precise target rather than hit in the
general direction of the hole. Often they will pick out a
spot on their line and focus on hitting their ball over
their spot. Another technique is to imagine a small hoop on
your line and then try to hit your ball through the hoop.
4. Visualise the shot exactly in your mind's eye.
Jack Nicklaus was a master of visualising his shot. Seeing
the shot you want before you hit it prepares your brain for
action. When I caddied I would ask my player to talk me
through how he intended to play his shot. Of course, you
must visualise according to your capability, otherwise you
are just fantasising.

It is very easy to just walk up to the ball and hit it.
