Why Take a Self Drive Golf Holiday in Northern France?

Northern France offers some of the best golfing holidays and
experiences in the world. From luxurious hotels to
immaculate courses, the region is overflowing with
opportunities for avid golfers, especially if you want to
travel to more than one of the great courses on offer. We
look at some of the reasons to take a self drive golf
holiday to Northern France, and the many advantages this
    type of holiday brings...

    Speed

One of the main reasons to go on a self drive golf holiday
to Northern France is the various speeds with which you can
get there. If you decide to, you can take a long cruise
across the channel, taking in the coasts of Britain and
France and enjoying the trip to the full. However, if like
most of us you can't wait to be out on the fairway, you can
take the Eurotunnel. At 35 minutes from Folkstone to Calais,
you can be at your destination less than an hour after you
depart (depending on relative distances). This also means
that with some careful planning you can take a half day, be
on the course by the afternoon, spend the evening at the
clubhouse or local hotel and then be back at work the next
    day.

    Flexibility

Another great reason for taking your car on a golf holiday
in France is the flexibility it offers you. Taking your own
car means less time worrying about the minutiae of how you
get to the course and more time on the course itself.

Taking your car also gives you more flexibility when it
comes to accommodation; not waiting for a taxi, chauffer or
transfer means you can stay in the hotel of your choice, be
it linked with the clubhouse, in the next town, or even a
boutique hotel further into the Normandy countryside. It
also makes your French golf holiday more tailored to your
needs - if you want to get to the course earlier or leave a
little later; you are in control with your own car.

    Choice of courses

Taking your own car has another added benefit on a golf
holiday in France, that of choice of courses to play on.
While you obviously choose which course you want to play on,
if you want to play on more than one over the period of your
golf holiday, a car is invaluable. Booking the tee time of
your choice at several of Northern France's gorgeous and
prestigious golf courses presents a problem unless you can
actually get there, and being autonomous with your own
    transport makes this much easier.

Taking a self-drive golf holiday in Northern France gives
you the flexibility, choice and luxury you deserve on your
holidays. It also provides you with the control over where
you go, at what time, and for how long as opposed to being
at the mercy of deadlines and leaving times from shuttles
    and hotel taxis.

Holidays - a company that has been providing incredible golf
holidays in France for over 25 years. This award-winning

possible golf holidays in France to everyone from
    experienced golfers to complete novices.

Uses For the Useless Golf Club

Most golf enthusiast will agree that the seven iron is the
"perfect" golf club. Many will say that they can do without
their five and eight iron. Then there is the ever important
putter that is hard to replace. The least useful of all
clubs, and of any pieces of equipment in your golf bag is
the one iron. Lee Trevino, a pro golfer even said that God
couldn't hit a good shot with a one iron.

The one iron is the longest golf iron and therefore the
hardest to consistently hit the ball where you want it to
go. If for some reason you are drawn to use the one iron
    then you are probably wrong.

For example, if you're 200 yards from the green you may be
tempted to use the one iron but since it is so hard to
control the distance and aim, the three wood would be a much
better choice. Depending on your strength you could
definitely get the ball on the green and since the three
wood is easier to hit with and control, it clearly makes
    better sense.

So what is the one iron really good for? Well most golfers,
even experienced players will tell you that they never use
it to play golf. There are many jokes surrounding the one
iron and you might get some jokers who will give you
alternate uses for this golf club. You could use it to hack
tall grass if your ball gets lost and you need to find it.
If you come across a wild animal or someone tries to mug
you, you could use the long one iron to cause injury.

Some will even tell you stories of destroying their one iron
out of frustration. Others will tell you that they use it
around the house to retrieve things under the couch or in
hard to reach corners. You could even use it as a cane or
splint if you get injured on the golf course. If there's
anything that can be sacrificed in your bag it is the one
iron. Everything else has a purpose; even the nine iron
    isn't totally useless.

Next time someone (usually a novice golf player) asks you
what you use the one iron for, make up some creative story
and have fun with it. And don't waste your time practicing
your golf swing with the one iron. It's pointless since you
won't be using it; for golf anyway.

Putting and Golf Are Two Different Games

Every now and again some enlightened golf teacher will
mention the obvious fact that putting and golf are really
two different games. Even then, they don't really address
the differences required in the techniques.

In golf, you have very large targets. They can be fairways,
or they can be greens. Either way, there are a nearly
infinite number of places on each that your ball can end up
and still be in good shape.

The target shrinks down to 4 ? inches once you reach the
green. The hole. There are no longer an infinite number of
acceptable places you can finish. And not only is the target
substantially smaller, but you must also hit it at the
correct speed if you want the ball to fall in.

Obviously, the game changes when you get closer to the hole.
Paradoxically, it gets harder for golfers the closer they
get to the hole. The reason for this is they know in their
mind they should make the putt. There is a definite and
known penalty for missing it. One more stroke is added to
    the score.

When you are standing on the tee or the fairway, there is no
such expectation. You are playing a physical sport with a
comparatively large margin of error. Even if you were to
miss the fairway or the green, you can recover.

That's the mental difference between golf and putting. But
putting also requires a change in technique that few are
even aware of. You must adapt from playing a big field
physical sport to a small field target game.

Let me show you the unknown fundamental of putting that
makes the transition not only effortless, but automatic. You
will never again look at putting the same way.

Girls Junior Golf Camp Checklist to Make Everyone Happy

Girls junior golf has grow in popularity in leaps and bounds
in just the last five years. Whether this was started by the
Tiger Woods phenomena, Annika Sorenstam or Michelle Wie, is
not really important. What is important is that more young
ladies are playing girls junior golf than ever before!

With the growth in girls junior golf, many summer golf camps
have become popular to attend. These schools range from
3-Day schools to 5-Day schools in length and cover all
aspects of the game. So if your daughters are anything like
mine, they are more worried about what they will need to
pack in order to stay beautified while they are gone. While
this is important, here is a checklist of items that you
will want to make sure that your child has before they leave
    for summer golf camp.

    1. You want to pack your golf clubs. This sounds obvious and
sometimes that makes it the hardest to remember. If your
child is looking to get a new set of golf clubs in the near
future, you will want one of the golf instructors that she
works with to give you recommendations for her next set as
well as the specs or measurements that she will need.

    2. Packing the needed medications for the time your daughter
will be gone is important. Try to think ahead as well. For
instance, traveling to another area of the country may kick
in some allergy or sinus problem that she was not currently
having at home. With this over the counter medicine not
taking up much room it is much better to be safe than sorry.

    3. You never know what kind of weather you are going to
encounter during your girls junior golf camp, so make sure
you take the right kind of gear for rain, like a rain
jacket, umbrella, or visor. In addition, stay with solid
colors so she can mix and match while she is gone.

    4. Make sure you have comfortable shoes and socks with you.
While at the girls junior golf camp, they will be hitting
more balls and playing more holes than they are probably
used to doing at home. Having fresh socks to put on at lunch
may give their feet the breather that they need.

    5. Again, practicing and playing more than usual, your
daughter will need to pack plenty of golf balls, gloves,
tees, etc. How many will depend on her current skill level
and the itinerary for the school.

    6. You may not have to deal with many bugs where you live
but you never know what can happen at junior golf camp.
Packing a bottle of insect repellant in her golf bag could
    benefit her year-round.

    7. The more and more we learn about what the sun is doing to
all of us, the more important that it is to pack plenty of
sun screen. We are learning that this can be very crucial to
your health. At our camps, we encourage our students to use
it multiple times a day as the instructors do as well.

    15 Top Golf Swing Tips

Golf swing tips can be found online or you can invest in one
of the many golf swing instruction e-books. Most of the tips
on golf swing techniques go into a lot of detail - sometimes
too much detail. What most golfers with a swing fault need
are a few basic golf swing tips; whether it is to fix a
slice or learn more about the short game in golf.

5 Tips on How to Drive Long Off the Tee

One of the best ways to score lower is to gain more golf
distance off the tee. When you have a shorter distance to
the green you have more chance to score par or better. Of
course, you need accuracy as well as distance; otherwise you
will be in a worse situation. Here are 5 quick and easy tips
to help you drive long off the tee:

Tee the ball up higher and position it off your leading
foot's instep so that you hit the ball on the upswing

Don't hit the ball with all your power - use a steady rhythm
and work on increasing your swing speed

Use the right shaft flex for your swing speed - use a
flexible shaft if you have a lower swing speed

Cock your wrists early on the backswing and un-cock them as
late as possible on the downswing

Turn your shoulders a full 90 degrees for maximum distance

5 Tips on How to Master Golf Irons

Learning to master golf irons is an overlooked subject.
There are many resources available to improve your driving
and putting but not much emphasis is placed on the golf iron
play. Learn to dominate your golf irons with these 5 tips:

Practice on the driving range to know your average distance
with each golf iron in your bag

Use the right iron for the distance you want to hit it and
    use a full swing

Take into account the wind strength and distance as well as
other factors like height and slopes

Playing from the rough is different from playing from the
fairway - you will need to adjust the ball position, stance,
    iron loft, and attack angle

Learn proper course management - going for the pin is
    sometimes not the best option

5 Tips on How to Improve Your Golf Short Game

The golf short game is one of the most important areas of
the golf game. Being able to hit long and accurate drives is
all well and good, but if you can't chip the ball on the
green, all that effort will be wasted. The short game of
golf is where you really need to practice, so check out the
    following 5 tips:

From under 50 yards, use a bump and run and get the ball
    rolling as soon as possible

Use a slightly open stance and place your feet closer
    together

Choose one club (7, 8, or 9 iron) and practice your chipping
    from different distances with it

The length of your backswing will determine the distance the
    ball will travel

When playing over a hazard, use a more lofted club with a
    pitching swing

These tips on golf swing technique cover three areas of the
game that are important but there are other areas that you
have to learn to dominate. They are bunker or sand trap
play, putting, pitching, and learning how to cure a slice or
hook (if you have these swing faults.) Golf is an all round
game - meaning that you have to be proficient in every
aspect of the game. Don't just concentrate on how to be a
long driver; instead practice with every club in your golf
    bag.

You can find more detailed golf tips at Mick's website on
how to Cure A Golf Hook and How To Fix A Slice, as well as
the other golf swing techniques mentioned in the above
    article.

Golf Course Review – Playa Dorada Golf Course – Puerto

    Plata, Dominican Republic

Whether you are playing off the reds, whites, greens or
blues, this article can help you to make decisions on the
course, and come up with a score under par. This review
however is based upon playing off the green tees.

Once you've paid the green fees, warmed up on the putting
green and hit a few balls on the range, there's only one
thing to do, make a birdie on the first hole, a long par 5.

Hole 1 - Par 5 - 490 yards Perhaps the easiest hole on the
course to go under par, the only difficulty being that it is
the first hole. Therefore a proper warm up is the key to
attaining a birdie here. A straight drive down the middle of
the fairway, avoiding the sand traps to the right is the key
here. On a dry day, a decent handicap golfer will get easily
300 yards off the tee, leaving you with the option of laying
up to the green or going for it with a straight 5 iron
towards the pin. Either way you need to avoid the water to
the left of the hole and behind. Once on the green, a good
read and you're in for birdie or par.

Hole 2 - Par 3 - 175 yards The wind can play havoc with your
tee shot here, so be sure to compensate for any breeze
specially in the afternoon. Mind out for the water on the
left hand side of the hole and the bunkers at the front
    right of the green.

Hole 3 - Par 4 - 395 yards Depending on how hard you hit and
how dry the day is, a long hitter should opt for a 3 wood or
3 iron off the tee here as there is a water hazard some 120
yards from the hole. Ideally a nice 3 wood could leave you
150 yards from the green, given that you miss the bunker on
the left of the fairway and a huge tree that could block
    your approach on the right.

    Hole 4 - Par 4 - 405 yards If you're a straight hitter,
there should be no problems here, those who play hook or
slice shots can come into trouble with the trees to the left
of the tee box and bunkers at the right of the fairway. A
good straight drive can leave you with an approach of
between 100 and 150 yards. Bunkers behind and in front of
the green are the challenge on this hole.

Hole 5 - Par 5 - 510 yards This hole is probably the easiest
of all to make a birdie on. From the tee box, look for your
drive to follow the hole, dog-leg right and you will leave
yourself a distance of between 200-250 yards. There is a
water hazard some 70 yards from the green, avoid that with
your 2nd shot, either laying up or hitting over. If your 2nd
shot gets you onto the green, well done, if not be exact
with your approach as there is water to the left and sand to
    the right.

    Hole 6 - Par 4 - 340 yards On a dry day, a straight drive
could carry out of bounds, on this dog-leg right. Also the
wind plays a big part here, as the hole looks onto the
beach. Providing your tee shot goes well (avoid trees to the
right of the fairway) you'll be left with an approach of
90-130 yards, this is where you have to pay attention as the
breeze can sometimes be hard to judge. Look to
overcompensate your approach due to the breeze. Also fallen
leaves from an almond tree can sometimes interfere with the
    bounce of the ball.

Hole 7 - Par 3 - 160 yards Again the wind plays a big part
depending on the time of day you play. Avoid the "Miami
Beach" bunker to the right of the green, otherwise a very
    makeable par.

Hole 8 - Par 4 - 365 yards This hole is quite straight
forward, a nice drive will leave you with between 90-140
depending on the dryness of the day. Not much wind here, so
a nice high approach will leave you with a birdie put, that
is if you avoid the sand to the front, left and back of the
    green.

Hole 9 - Par 4 - 350 yards Beware the lake that borders the
whole left side of this hole and the trees to the right, if
your drive isn't spot on, or short then you could be in
trouble on the right. If you play well off the tee, then
    your approach should be simple.

Hole 10 - Par 4 - 364 yards Trees to the left, surrounded by
fairway bunkers, be careful! This hole is somewhat
frustrating as it looks easier than it is. As long as you
avoid the trees, there shouldn't be any problem with making
    par.

Hole 11 - Par 4 - 370 yards This hole screams "rip it",
smack your drive straight down the park and you'll be left
with a tantalizing approach, leaving you feeling that you
have to make a birdie here. As long as you avoid the sand on
the fairway and at the front right of the green, you'll be
    ok.

Hole 12 - Par 3 - 150 yards The wind is the only real issue
on this hole, straightforward, large green, not much
movement. If you come up short a decent chip will leave you
in good shape for a par.

Hole 13 - Par 5 - 465 yards Another makeable birdie hole, as
long as you're long enough to avoid the first fairway bunker
on the left, you can either approach with a long iron or lay
up to avoid the bunker before the green. This green is
actually well protected by sand, so be careful to avoid
    those nasty sand traps.

    Hole 14 - Par 4 - 400 yards Dog-leg left, try to follow the
hole around or your drive could end up under a group of
trees straight ahead. If you follow the hole, your 2nd shot
will be a lot easier than going straight, a few bunkers to
beware of, and depending on the flag location on the day you
play, this can be one of the trickier holes.

Hole 15 - Par 4 - 390 yards Once you avoid the trees to the
left, you can pretty much open up and let loose on this
hole. As long as you don't under-club yourself, you should
    be on in 2.

    Hole 16 - Par 4 - 350 yards A straight forward drive will
leave you with the bunkers on the left and right front of
the green to contend with, this hole usually plays as one of
the easier holes due to a forgiving green.

Hole 17 - Par 3 - 150 yards My favorite hole, go over the
water to avoid embarrassment, if you go long, you'll be
playing out of the sand. This is the hole where most
hole-in-ones have been recorded on the course.

Hole 18 - Par 5 - 480 yards Your tee shot here needs to be
controlled, on the last hole, as there is a water hazard
between the 280-300 mark from the tee. Given you avoid that,
then you are faced with 2 scenarios, if you went over the
water, then you'll be left with about 160 to the hole, go
for it! If you stayed this side of the water, then lay up
and get on the green in 3.

All in all an enjoyable course, I would rank it number 3 on
the north coast of the Dominican Republic, behind Playa
    Grande and Las Aromas.

Sublime Brussels Has the Choice Private Golf Courses

Brussels, pronounced Bruxelles in French and Brussel in
Dutch is the capital of Belgium. The French and Dutch names
spring from the dual-language ethnology of the country it
portrays. While the town may seem to be the mingling point
of variant cultures and languages, Brussels still has a
unique identity that leaves room for it to be explored
thoroughly by sociologists and day-trippers alike. The
population of the metropolitan area goes up to as much as

Brussels prestigious domiciles sprang up from the 17th

iconic monuments of Brussels is the La outstanding-habitat,
which is the city's main market. The main market is also the
onsequential town centre where you will find many
constructed dwellings that display vivid architecture. The
market and the people that walk in it give a snapshot of the
social and enlightening lifestyle of the 17th century. Even
nowadays, you may see the true character of Brussels'
residents in this market square. Near the city centre, you
could also spot the extraordinary place hall and the La
Maison du Roi (the King's House).

Sightseeing and specialty tours are perfect ways to get to
know the center. One of the largest favourite tours is the
Brussels Bike Tours. This daily bike circuit will take you
around the capital in just four hours. This journey is

while meeting new friends. The peregrination group is more
often than not petite, and the lack of slopes and lots of
open spaces makes it comfortable for bikers to go around the
city. After the half day journey, you could go to a flea
market these as residence du Jeu de Balle to buy antique
    souvenirs.

Brussels is talked about for cookery classics such as
mussels, fries, and chocolates. You may spot a multitude
chocolate shops in the city centre, but you will find the
best chocolates near the suburbs. A typical Belgian fine
meal includes meat, pasta, potatoes, and dessert. The
largest preferred Belgian desert is the Belgian waffle.
These waffles are can be made with different banana
flavours, creams, and other toppings. Belgian chocolates and
waffles are some of the utmost desserts you will ever taste.
There are umpteen budget food options in Brussels' allies,
so you will demonstrate enough money to taste every treat in
the metropolis. High class restaurants include the Belga
Queen, La Belle Maraichere, and the De Gulden Boot.

At night, Brussels is an extremely lively and thrilling
conurbation. Loads of pleasure districts are available, each
with a distinctive environment. One can appreciate live
music at diverse pubs and bars, greater of which are
stationed in the Upper city. World-class performing arts,
these as ballet, opera, classical, and theatre concerts are
featured in scarcely any theatres positioned in both the
Lower place and the Upper place. From end to end the year,
Brussels also hosts legions splendid festivals that should
not be missed. These include Brussels Film Festival,
Antiques Fair, Animation and Cartoon Festival, and Jazz
    Marathon.

Brussels is a very lively place and a celebrated walking
conurbation. From great architecture and an abundance of
fine art to trendy clubs and multitudinous restaurants a
trip to Brussels will ensure that you will never get bored
    on your getaway.

Golf Training Aids – Can They Help Your Swing

If you're a rabid golfer addicted to the Golf Channel like I
am, you've no doubt seen the endless infomercials pitching
the latest and greatest golf training aids. So, what's the
deal? Do these golf training aids really work or are they
offering golfers false hope? Fortunately for you, I've
whipped out my credit card on more than one occasion to buy
one of these cure-alls and I'm here to tell you what you
should expect from these miracle devices.

The first thing I noticed was that I bought these products
not based on a specific area of my game that I wanted to
fix, but rather how well they were marketed. Don't fall into
this trap. For example, I saw a device that was supposed to
help with an outside-to-inside swing path. The infomercial
was fantastic. I convinced myself that I had an
outside-to-inside swing and really needed this product. The
reality is that my swing is inside-to-outside and this
device ruined my game for a whole year by exacerbating my
    flaw.

On the other side of the fence, I purchased a golf training
aid that kept my back leg flexed throughout my golf swing
and prevented the dreaded reverse pivot that had plagued me
for years. This was absolutely the best investment in my
golf game that I have ever made. It seemed to cure problems
I didn't even know I had. I have been hitting it far more
solidly and definitely longer since I have been using it.

The point is you should understand the specific areas of
your swing you are trying to improve. Once you know what
needs to be fixed, only then should you seek out a training
aid to help you with that specific problem. You can also go
see your local PGA Pro to both help you isolate your swing
flaws and recommend some exercises to improve those flaws.
Often times teaching professionals will use golf training
aids during lessons so be sure to ask them for advice and
    recommendations.

Golf training aids can be tremendously beneficial to your
golf swing and help you make major improvements. However,
you have to choose the right ones or you could do your swing
    more harm than good.

If you'd like to learn more about golf training aids and how
they can improve, or hurt, your golf swing check out my blog

    New Or Used Golf Balls?

When collecting your golf equipment to go out for a round of
golf you want to be absolutely sure to bring enough golf
balls with you - how many would you lose this time? How sad
is it to tee off with a great new golf ball and hit it
straight in the shrubs to never find it back again? Wouldn't
you therefore be better off with a stack of used golf balls?

That depends on a couple of factors: your skills as a golfer
and your aims for that round of golf. If your aim is to
practice your skills, no matter what level you're at, used
golf balls are absolutely great! Practice your shots and
technique over and over again with used balls, at a fraction
of the cost of new ones.

On becoming more confident as a golf player start
experimenting with new golf balls from a range of qualities
to get a feel for the subtle differences: what happens for
example when you use a ball designed for women? Or when
hitting a top-end ball from a leading brand? How does this
    affect your play?

And the time will come that you won't lose a great amount of
balls anymore - which makes golfing with good quality balls
that suit your game more attractive! But you'll always have
a stack of used balls somewhere for those practice drills,
no matter how good you are!

New and used golf balls can easily be purchased online - to
get the best deal for your money. If you have no idea what
to buy you can always search the internet to go through golf
    ball reviews.
